KITCHEN COMICS EXHIBITION

The 'Kitchen Comics' exhibition took place from 28 October 2024 to 18 November 2024 at the Liwan Design Studios & Labs. I had to opportunity to curate the space in order to highlight the student's work.

"Our kitchens store more than just food—they are sites of memory-making, creativity, communing, sharing, tradition, experimentation, and change. As we travel out into the world, we carry these flavors with us, sharing them with new friends at new tables and in new kitchens.
In this exhibition, design and storytelling come together to visualize the intangible ties between us and our kitchen spice collections. Spices, the heart of our kitchens, have always been a symbol of cultural exchange and migration. Just as spices traveled ancient trade routes, infusing new flavors into distant lands, so do our traditions and recipes expand and evolve. We invite you to relive your memories and explore the rich history of spices that shape the kitchens of our past and present".

The Kitchen Comics exhibition has its origins in a VCUarts Qatar Graphic Design elective led by the Chair of Graphic Design and Principal Investigator of the (IN)<Tangible Lab, Astrid Kensinger, and Leland Hill, Principal Investigator of the Comics Lab.

Special Thanks to Astrid Kensinger, Mohammad Sharaf, and Reem Al-Thani.
